Sarfraz Ahmad Sacked: Azhar Ali and Babar Azam Take Reins of Test and T20 Cricket
However, the Case for Sarfaraz’s Dismissal had been Building Steadily for a while now, taking into consideration his own Form. He is having Pretty Dismal run for the Test side, Currently at No. 7 in the Rankings. Such Woeful Run as Pakistan Lost Lost 3-0 Against South Africa, prior to that, had lost Three Test Series in UAE against New Zealand and Sri Lanka Under the Captaincy of Sarfraz.
Sarfraz’s own performance is the Reason Behind his Sacking. He hasn’t Scored a Test Century in 5 Years. His most recent Test assignments in South Africa, he made three ducks in Six innings. So, Putting Aside the Performance of Team, Misbah just Can’t overlook Sarfraz’s Individual Performance over Team’s Achievements.
Azhar Ali- New Captain of Tests
Azhar Ali has been a Mainstay of Pakistan’s batting line-up since making his debut against Australia at Lord’s in 2010. He is always Regarded as Misbah-ul-Haq and Younis Khan’s Prodigy and has Scored 5,669 runs with 15 centuries and 31 half-centuries in 73 Tests.
The New Test Skipper Azhar Ali is Delighted and Ready for the new Responsibility. In His Press Conference after the Announcement, Azhar Expressed:
“There is no bigger honor than to Captain the Pakistan National Cricket Team in the Pinnacle Format of the Game”.
“We are Currently Placed Seventh on the Test rankings, so in the Upcoming Word Test Championships, all our opponents would be ranked higher. There are Tough Challenges ahead, but it also gives us a Great Opportunity to play some good cricket”.
Babar Azam- New Captain of T20
Meanwhile, Babar Azam will Lead Pakistan in Limited T20 Format. The Masterclass Batsman is the No. 1 Ranked Batter in T20. It will be a huge task for him to Carry Forward the Legacy of his Predecessor under whom the team achieved the No. 1 spot and help the team evolve into a “Powerful Side”.
Babar Azam said:” To be named the captain of the no.1 ranked side in the world is the biggest thing that has happened to my career to date. I am ready for this challenge and also willing to learn more in the process. I feel it has been a natural progression for me and I am delighted that the PCB has put faith in my capabilities”.
Decision Had Responses on Social Media
The PCB’s Decision about the Removal of Sarfraz from the Tests could be Understandable but Removing him from the T20 didn’t go well with The Cricket Pundits and Many other Followers!
Sarfaraz Ahmad had his ups and downs as captain, will be most remembered for the CT win in 2017,however such is the fate of Pak captains that it never really ends well for them! Good luck to him for the future..

I saw it coming for Sarfraz. Nobody else is to be blamed but him. Been telling him for two years to pull up his socks.
