UN Declares Pakistan a “Family Station” for its Staff
International Civil Service Commission wrote a letter to Pakistan’s Permanent Ambassador to UN, Maleeha Lodhi. The letter stated that the United Nations has abolished the non-family status of the duty station Islamabad, Pakistan effective 14 June 2019. The decision is based on the recommendation by the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Department of Safety and Security.
Pakistan is embroiled in a war-like situation for more than a decade. The results are achieved by the Government of Pakistan along with its Armed Forces. The global body of the United Nations has issued a notification to their representatives that they can travel to Pakistan along with their families.
Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi welcomes this remarkable decision blissfully.
